You’re looking at the legendary 1972 Marshall Super Lead 100W head, a personal favorite of Graham Oliver. Graham acquired this iconic amp in 1974 and used it extensively in clubs and pubs until the formation of Saxon in 1976. From that point forward, it accompanied him on every Saxon tour and album, solidifying its place in rock history. What makes this Marshall head even more remarkable is its connection to Randy Rhoads. During Saxon’s European tour, when Ozzy Osbourne’s Blizzard of Ozz opened for them, Randy’s amp suffered a fuse failure at soundcheck just before the doors opened. In a pinch, Randy used Graham’s Marshall head for the entire show in Germany, creating an unforgettable moment in rock lore. This amp has been carefully serviced by Marshall over the years and was featured in the BBC Documentary Play It Loud: The History of the Marshall. After 40 years of touring, recording, and making music history, Graham retired it in 2014. From humble beginnings in local bars to international stages, this amp was there every step of the way. Included with the amp is a detailed letter from Graham himself, recounting its storied history, along with photos of him with the amp. It remains a cherished part of our private collection.
